Art, Not Crime
Graffiti causes no harm, art not crime, twelve billion dollars wasted removing art, and graffiti is art. Each phrase was steciled around downtown Chattanooga near graffiti or buffed walls. Jenny Holzer’s “crime agaisnt property is realtively unimportant,” was then used to challenge the stigma around graffiti in urban areas. The same cities that fund murals on walls around town together spend annualy twelve billion dollars buffing graffiti. This zine uses graffiti and Jenny Holzer’s Trusims to create a new narrative for graffiti and place it in the artistic eye rather than criminal.
