Music has evolved into an identity we wear on our sleeve for society to perceive our character. From genres to independent artists, who we listen to is how society forces us into groups and conformity. While our music preferences often align with the stereotypes of various genres, this forceful grouping undermines our personal connections with the music we consume. What is forgotten about is how heritage, trauma, and childhood lead us towards bands and artists that we can hear ourselves in. Visualizing music tastes through the composition of festival posters allows us to answer the question of why we like what music we do. The early stage of our life is accompanied by the music our parents frequent and therefore lays the foundation for the festival poster that reflects our musical preferences of the present. Personal journeys, like those through the art world as reflected in the visual motifs of each poster, have an important role in our musical consumption. At the end of the day there is no right or wrong reason why we should enjoy the music we do. What should be focused on is how every milestone of life has brought us to the waveforms that vibrate perfectly in our eardrums to create positive memories and feelings.
